Sunday Blues

Mr Genki had been driving for the past four days. Much excitement that he would expect since he seldom gets the chance to drive. And in Mr Genki's favour to drive for this particular week is at the expense of his brother-in-law being quarantined at home due to chicken pox. Bro, get well soon!

For the first few days, there wasn't too much of a problem on the road. Except Mr Genki had to travel along PIE then BKE during PEAK HOURS. The traffic condition then was appalling. Long queue at the Clementi Ave 6 entrance towards PIE(Changi) gave Mr Genki a huge clue of the calamity awaiting for him ahead.

I have to accentuate that I was then driving alone with my yellow base, orange triangle plate. And it's the first time I'm dealing with such a heavy traffic. 4-wheeled vehicles have got no choice but to be discipline in keeping on their lanes. What I loath most are the riders. Being small means agile, they never fail to attempt to cut through every single gap they see. And they really appear from nowhere, which is why drivers should check blind spots before changing lanes or making a turn. Since I was at a crawling speed due to traffic conditions, I was able to witness how these buggers show their immense affection for gaps. Sheesh, it was so stress.

Since I was such a greenhorn in driving, I tried my best to observe the art of defensive driving rigorously. Hence, even in heavy traffic condition, I made it safely to my destinations.

This part of the post accounts of my Sunday blues. Had a tuition class at Bukit Panjang and drove there. Again, made it safely there. However, complications arosed, ensued, but were somehow overcome for the return trip. Mr Genki was involved in his first case of traffic accident.

!!!

I was travelling along Bukit Batok Rd (if I had not mistaken) at the speed limit of 70km/h and suddenly......

AMBER LIGHT. So I hit the brakes hard to get my vehicle to stop b4 the stop line, which I did. A vehicle behind reacted just a little late. But the driver, knowing that it was safe to do so, swerve his vehicle to the lane left to mine and hitting the brakes at the same time, had his front right of the vehicle knocked into the rear left of mine. The left of my rear bumper suffered significant scratches while his front right was seriously dented.

Thankfully, he's one driver who's responsible enough to stop by somewhere safe and talk things over nicely. I really appreciate that apologetic attitude and the kindness for not eating up a greenhorn like me. I was so lost. I could do nothing but to call my Dad for advice on dealing with the situation.

It could have been worse for me if the driver decided to run like the devil itself and itelf is upon him. Melancholy for Mr Genki. And tomorrow I shall meet him again at the workshop.
