Quin (Andy Lau), the Banker: Who's your daddy? Definitely not Quin. For a second you may think that a dope Kingpin like Quin would lead a high-profile Godfather status life. Be mistaken, he is one unique and sophisticated Kingpin who dress like a commoner and drives a old-fashioned mercedes. His speciality: trades No. 4 (Heroin), or otherwise known as "US$" like nobody's business and talks like a businessman.

Nick (Daniel Wu), the Undercover: He is the protege! A fast learner and a quick thinker. He is the only person that Quin would ever trust. With no doubts, he is The Candidate to succeed Quin as the Banker. Be mistaken again! All the brotherhood was a fake. He is a cop. Watch how Nick bust Quin's ass as he live a life of dual identities.

Fan (Zhang Jingchu), the victim: Simply put it, she's helpless. Very helpless. Married a crackhead jerk and drowned herself in the world of dopes. Her only motivation for life would be her adorable little daughter. She's just too ill-fated.

??? (Louis Khoo), the trafficker: Actually, I would prefer to call him a good for nothing jerk! The idiotic crackhead husband who cares no more for his family than heroin. He is that f**ker who dragged Fan into his lost world of dopes. He is that as*h*le who is not even least bothered for pushing his ill-fated wife into prostitution. He is the jerk who made use of her innocent daughter for drug trafficking. If you would agree with me that he's a jerk, then full credits go to his acting!

I'd fully support the Derek Yee, the director's claim that "there're no idols in this show, only actors". If you think only horror flicks have morbid scenes, go see how ghoulish can some scenes of protege get! Not forgetting that how sweet some other scenes could get.
